A conversation recorder has to make it out of the house.
That sounds obvious, but it is the first problem we want Draki's hardware to solve. You can choose a recorder for a scheduled meeting. You cannot schedule the useful comment someone makes while walking you to the door, or the introduction that turns into half an hour of conversation.
If the device is uncomfortable, awkward with your clothes or simply one more thing to remember, you will eventually leave it behind. The quality of its AI will not matter that afternoon.
You can use Draki's mobile app without a bracelet. We chose the bracelet because it is the most convenient way to keep capture close at hand throughout the day. The wrist already has a place in many people's routine: put it on, get dressed, leave. Recording stays a choice you can turn on or off whenever you want.
It should fit the clothes you already wear
A recording pendant has to occupy space on your chest. Under a T-shirt, it can rub against the fabric and cover the microphone. Outside the shirt, it becomes a visible object that moves when you walk or bend forward.
That is a different wearing decision from a fine chain or a small piece of jewelry. A recorder needs a housing for its microphone, battery and electronics. You have to be happy with how that object feels and looks through a whole day, not only while taking a meeting.
For us, the wrist is a better starting point. It lets eyewear and neckwear remain personal choices, and it does not require finding a new attachment point when you change shirts. We are designing for the person who wants help remembering a conversation without arranging their outfit around the recorder.
We are not the only team exploring the wrist. Some recorders support several wearing positions. Our comparison of AI wearable shapes looks at those choices and the practical compromises behind them.
The useful part often comes after the meeting
Think about visiting a customer at their workshop. The formal discussion covers a product, a price and a delivery date. On the way out, they explain how they spend every Monday checking canceled orders to understand why people changed their minds.
You did not know to put that on the agenda. It may become the most useful thing to ask about when you return.
That is the kind of continuity we care about. A device that stays with you can make agreed recording practical as a conversation moves from a table to a doorway. You should not have to keep taking out your phone whenever the discussion changes location.
Wearing Draki all day does not mean recording every moment. Explain recording, agree on it with the people involved, and pause when the conversation should stay off the record.
Stopping has to be easy, too
Someone says, "Can we stop recording for a minute?" You should be able to act immediately and know that it worked.
Draki lets you pause or stop capture. The wrist gives us a reachable place to design those controls: you can see it and use the other hand, without reaching beneath a shirt or searching for the phone in a bag. Clear recording status belongs in the same design work.
A pause has a simple boundary: it stops further capture. Removing something already saved is a separate data control.
Choosing the wrist gives us specific problems to solve
A bracelet has to feel comfortable while you type, rest your arm on a desk and pull on a sleeve. It cannot depend on you holding your wrist in an unnatural position throughout a meeting. A microphone under a cuff or below the table may struggle to hear the person opposite you.
Charging also has to fit the day. A device that is comfortable but spends the relevant afternoon on its charger has missed the point. We will need to judge the hardware by those ordinary situations, with battery and audio results measured under stated conditions.
These are the standards behind our choice. Choosing a familiar shape gives us somewhere useful to start; the finished device still has to earn its place there.
The bracelet gets the conversation into your memory
The bracelet is being developed as another capture surface. The current iPhone app works by itself and sends audio through Draki to OpenAI over Wi-Fi after your permission. Text is stored for cloud summaries and search. Automatic speaker separation and voice recognition are not available in the public app.
Weeks later, you need a way back to what was said. Draki lets you associate saved people with conversations and retrieve captured context by person, topic or time. You can revisit the customer's explanation before meeting again, rather than searching a folder of recordings by filename.
Draki offers an optional custom MCP connection for AI assistants that support remote MCP. Availability depends on your assistant and account settings. This read-only connection lets you bring saved context into your assistant. Only authorized text and context are shared through MCP. Audio is separately sent to OpenAI for Draki's cloud transcription after your permission. The AI connection lets you ask for a relevant discussion and check the transcript passage.
If you already wear a smartwatch, you already know the habit we are designing around. You can start with the app alone and decide whether a dedicated bracelet would make capture more convenient. Follow product and hardware availability through the Draki waiting list.
We want you to remember what someone told you without having to spend the day thinking about the thing on your wrist.
FAQ
- Why is Draki building an AI bracelet?
- The mobile app works by itself. We chose the Draki bracelet as the most convenient way to keep capture within reach as you move through your day. You can turn recording on or off whenever you want, without taking out your phone each time.
- Do I need the bracelet to use Draki?
- No. You can use the Draki mobile app without any bracelet. The current iPhone app uses OpenAI cloud transcription after your permission. It does not automatically separate or recognize speakers.
- Why choose a bracelet instead of an AI necklace?
- A pendant can swing or rub against clothing, and wearing it outside a shirt makes an electronic object part of your outfit. We prefer the wrist for everyday use, while recognizing that some people are comfortable with neckwear.
- Can I pause Draki recording?
- Yes. Draki lets you pause or stop recording. Reachable controls and clear recording status are priorities for the bracelet design. Pausing stops further capture; it does not delete information already saved.
- What if I already wear a smartwatch?
- You can use the Draki app without buying another wearable. A watch's own recording features do not establish Draki compatibility; check Draki support and availability updates before choosing hardware for it.
